Waterwork
Kitchen Sink Design
Waterwork is a product of user-centered design. Research included: effective washing up techniques; fly-on-the-wall observation; special requirements of different social groups; anthropometrical analysis; questionnaires and more. Much of this research pointed towards a design that offered an adaptive environment with freedom to cope with user interpretation. The design has many beneficial features. An extra large sink with wash and rinse inner-basins, giving the user space control and height adjustability. A sliding tap that can be removed from it´s perch for even more freedom. Draining crates for a convenient solution to rinsing, drainage, and storage.
The final design is very different from existing products. It offers users the choice of how they use the space, therefore providing unrivled adaptability. The concept is simple, but the effect has the potential to benefit all users. This was my final year major project at university and recieved a Gold Award at UNDO Graduates 2004 recieving a place at 100% Design.
